Hyderabad, Telangana: Get the latest updates on BJP’s choice of Madhavi Latha to contest against sitting MP Asaduddin Owaisi in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
In a significant political move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has selected Madhavi Latha, a newcomer with a Hindutva stance, to contest against incumbent MP Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. This marks the first time the BJP has fielded a female candidate in this stronghold of AIMIM.
Madhavi Latha, a prominent figure in Hyderabad, holds a BA in public administration and an MA in political science. She chairs the Virinchi Hospitals in Hyderabad and has actively campaigned against triple talaq, collaborating with Muslim women groups in the region. Known for her philanthropic activities and advocacy for Hindu Dharma, she emphasizes the promotion of peace and harmony in society through Sanatana Dharma.
Expressing admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Madhavi Latha sees herself as inspired by his selfless leadership and vision for India’s development. Her mission, she says, is to contribute to India’s progress under Modi’s leadership.
Madhavi Latha’s campaign theme focuses on the “right to neighbourhood,” aiming for a safe and developed constituency. She accuses AIMIM of resorting to malpractices and coercion in elections and vows to ensure free and fair elections by addressing issues like bogus votes and polling booth security.
The decision to field Madhavi Latha comes amidst speculation that sitting Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh could have been chosen to contest against Owaisi. With the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat historically dominated by AIMIM, Madhavi Latha’s candidacy adds a new dimension to the political landscape in the region.
