New Delhi: As the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections concluded on February 5, exit polls have offered contrasting forecasts regarding the potential outcome. While some polls suggest a significant victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), others indicate that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may retain its majority in the 70-member assembly.
Divergent Exit Poll Projections

The exit polls present a mixed picture, with some agencies predicting a BJP majority, while others suggest a closer contest with AAP. Polls like Peoples Pulse and Mind Brink project a strong lead for BJP, estimating between 44-60 seats. In contrast, WeePreside and DV Research indicate that AAP could retain power, with seat projections as high as 46-52. Several agencies, including Chanakya Strategies, P-Marq, and JVC, foresee a tough fight, with BJP leading in the 39-49 range, while AAP remains between 21-37 seats. The Congress Party, however, appears to have a negligible presence, with most polls allocating it 0-3 seats.

According to Phalodi Satta Bazaar, AAP is anticipated to secure between 39 to 41 seats, thereby retaining a majority, while the BJP is projected to win 29 to 31 seats. The Congress Party is expected to remain without representation in the assembly.
Political Reactions
In response to these projections, AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, dismissed the exit polls as “fake” and “designed as per BJP wishes.” He alleged that such polls are manipulated to misguide the public and exert undue pressure on officials.
Conversely, BJP leaders have welcomed the exit poll results, viewing them as a validation of their efforts to connect with Delhi’s middle and upper-middle-class voters. A senior BJP official stated, “The exit polls reflect the public’s desire for change and their faith in our vision for Delhi’s development.”

Awaiting Official Results
While exit polls provide an early indication of electoral outcomes, their accuracy has been inconsistent in past Indian elections. The actual results, scheduled to be announced on February 8, will confirm whether the BJP can translate these projections into a definitive victory or if AAP will maintain its stronghold in Delhi.
